2019 Housing & Conservation Conference

Building and Sustaining Healthy Communities

Thursday, October 10, 2019
Barre, Vermont

  • Please join the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board for a day of inspiration, reflection, conversation and skill sharing!
Housing creation, land conservation and historic preservation are each powerful tools for building and sustaining Vermont’s landscape and communities. Together, their impact is even greater. Please join us to explore how we can make our strategies more effective, our work more inclusive, our messages clearer, and our organizations stronger--all for the benefit of Vermonters now and into the future. The day is designed to offer new insights from experts and foster cross-disciplinary learning and visionary thinking among attendees.

    Plenary Session

Healthy Communities: Collaboration for Land and People

Combining housing and conservation efforts is unusual but not unique to Vermont. We’ll hear from Dr. Tiffany Manuela national expert in systems change, and from Alfred Diaz-Infante and Todd Farrington, representing two housing and conservation organizations working in support of a stronger, healthier and more inclusive community in the Salinas Valley of California. The discussion will draw out lessons that can be applied to our own work around the themes of collaboration, diversity, impact, equity, and community engagement. The session will close with Vermont highlights.
