Community Engagement Assistant - Cathedral Square, South Burlington

Help improve the lives of older adults and people with diverse needs by building a more robust, streamlined volunteer program with Cathedral Square! This position will grow and maintain connections between the organization and partner businesses, community members, and residents in support of creating a more efficient and improved volunteer management system. This position is Half Time (915 hours) and  will largely take place with the New Day Respite program at Memory Care at Allen Brook Assisted Living.

The Community Engagement Program Assistant will:

  • Promote volunteer opportunities to businesses, schools, community groups, and resident associations
  • Identify and perform outreach with potential volunteers
  • Document and track volunteer activity in the volunteer database
  • Plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation events

Position begins January 13, 2026 and ends July 3rd,  2026. The position will work with and collaborate with a variety of staff at our properties. Part of the service member’s time will be spent at our Memory Care residential community in Williston, VT that serves low income adults with memory impairment.

Homeownership Center Coordinator - RuralEdge, St. Johnsbury

Provide the Northeast Kingdom community with education and resources for homeownership programs through outreach and supportive services. Help RuralEdge serve more households and increase capacity to better understand program effectiveness. This position is Full Time (1720 hours).

The HomeOwnership Center Coordinator will:

  • Learn and gain comprehensive knowledge of the HomeOwnership Center’s programs and services with a focus on homebuyer education, financial capability, and housing stabilization in order to support host site programs.
  • Facilitate intake and triage process for clients seeking assistance with financial counseling programs
  • Create and deliver workshops, informational sessions, outreach materials related to Shared Equity Homeownership
  • Conduct outreach including networking with partner organizations and community agencies to increase host site programming

Resident Services Coordinator - RuralEdge, St. Johnsbury

Provide program management and support services for RuralEdge residents! Drop-In Center Food Coordinator - Spectrum Youth & Family Services, Burlington

Provide accessible and balanced meals to youth experiencing food insecurity! Plan and prepare meals, adhere to a weekly food budget, and manage food donations and kitchen volunteers. Engage youth participants and foster a safe, healthy environment at the Drop-In Center! This position is Full Time (1720 hours).

Spectrum Youth and Family Services’ mission is to empower teenagers, young adults, and their families to make and sustain positive changes through prevention, intervention, and life skills services.

The Drop-In Center Coordinator will:

  • Plan meals, grocery shop, manage food donations, and organize and maintain the Drop-In Kitchen for successful implementation of the meal program
  • Cook and serve food to youth
  • Lead healthy cooking, nutrition, and food preparation classes for youth

Events and Education Specialist - SASH @ Winooski Housing Authority, Winooski

Promote greater independence among WHA populations through development and implementation of health-related events and group activities.  Create programs that make it possible to retain quality of life at higher care facilities through strengthening resident’s health, both physical and mental. This position is Full Time (1720 hours).

SASH Mission: “Coordinate and deliver person-centered, evidence-based care and support to people where they live, helping them improve or maintain their health and quality of life so they can live out their days in the location of their choosing.” (SASH is a nationally recognized, team-based program of care coordination shown to improve population health, save Medicare dollars and help people stay (or become) healthy so they can remain living at home.

The Events and Education Specialist will:

  • Identify needs of participants through interview and survey
  • Review health data of participants to inform programming planning
  • Plan and implement health-related events and activities
  • Provide social support to resident community
  • Train tenants in specific emergency-related safety planning

Conservation & Environmental Education

Community Engagement Specialist - Audubon VT, Huntington

Increase opportunities for Vermonters of all ages to engage in environmental education and conservation efforts statewide! Audubon Vermont seeks a creative individual to inspire conservation action for birds, people, and the planet through support of local chapters, educational programming, and community science initiatives. This position is Full Time (1720 hours) and is a mix of office and field service.

Audubon Vermont and our supporters are building a better future for our state through conservation, youth leadership, education, community involvement, and by tapping into an active network that includes over 10,000 members, six Vermont chapters, including our newest UVM Campus Chapter, and many respected partners in communities throughout Vermont and along the Atlantic Flyway.

The Community Engagement Specialist will:

  • Teach hands-on nature-based programs at the host site and to partner organizations
  • Conduct outreach to expand educational offerings to new audiences and reduce barriers to access
  • Create and develop new host site education programs
  • Recruit volunteers to participate in community science initiatives across Vermont

Conservation Specialist - Audubon VT, Huntington

Support Audubon Vermont’s conservation team by serving in priority species monitoring efforts, engaging land stewards in habitat enhancement projects, and learning how Audubon Vermont is bending the curve in bird declines. The Conservation Specialist will contribute to projects that include enhancing habitat for shrubland, grassland, and riparian birds, as well as monitoring recently recovered species in the state. This position is Three-Quarter Time (TQT) requiring a minimum of 1215 hours.

Audubon Vermont and our supporters are building a better future for our state through conservation, youth leadership, education, community involvement, and by tapping into an active network that includes over 10,000 members, six Vermont chapters, including our newest UVM Campus Chapter, and many respected partners in communities throughout Vermont and along the Atlantic Flyway.

The Conservation Specialist will:

  • Assist with habitat enhancement projects including planting trees, site preparation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Provide and/or assist with habitat assessments and management recommendations for land stewards with a focus on farmland and riparian areas.
  • Conduct bird surveys on properties to support habitat assessments.
  • Conduct monitoring of birds pre-and post-implementation of habitat enhancement projects.
  • Engage community members and land managers
  • Coordinate and support community scientists
  • Assist with program data interpretation and compilation

Environmental Educator - Audubon VT, Huntington

The Environmental Educator will help the team at Audubon Vermont lead programs for thousands of children and adults. Our member will grow their skills as a naturalist and teacher while they help us reach new and existing community members with engaging place- based programs at the Green Mountain Audubon Center and surrounding towns. Position is Full Time (1720 hours) and takes place both in the office and in an outdoor setting in all weather conditions.

Outreach, Education, and Restoration Assistant - Connecticut River Conservancy, Brattleboro

This role supports efforts to assess watershed health, develop and implement stream restoration projects, support water quality sampling, support volunteer engagement in community science efforts and events, and develop and implement public education campaigns to garner active engagement in watershed stewardship.

The Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) restores and advocates for clean water, healthy habitats, and resilient communities to support a diverse and thriving watershed. Through collaborative partnerships in New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, CRC leads and supports science-based efforts for natural and life-filled rivers from source to sea.

The Outreach, Education, and Restoration Assistant will:

  • Organize and host volunteer events
  • Conduct public education and outreach focused on conservation issues affecting the Connecticut River in Vermont through events, print, and social media
  • Provide public education and outreach opportunities around river related issues, organizing education campaigns
  • Coordinate water quality sampling efforts
  • Collect and synthesize data to develop baseline Vermont information for the State of the Watershed Report

Natural Resources Technician - Franklin County Natural Resources Conservation District (FCNRCD), St. Albans

Become a vital member of the FCNRCD team and support the planning and implementation of natural resources and water quality projects in Franklin County! Conduct tree plantings, soil sampling, and restoration site maintenance, plus conduct research on projects to support landowners and community members. This is a Full Time (1720 hours) position and requires the member to work both independently and collaboratively.

The Franklin County Natural Resources Conservation District empowers and partners with land stewards and communities on the ground by supporting connections that benefit natural resources, water quality, soil health, and the working landscape in Franklin County and across Northwest Vermont.

The Natural Resources Technician will:

  • Participate in ecosystem restoration projects including tree planting, restoration site maintenance, and will stake harvesting.
  • Attend water quality and forestry site visits with landowners to perform education, site assessment, and project identification
  • Create and update tracking systems for volunteer management, outreach, project development, and more
  • Plan and implement public education events on water quality and natural resource management

Position begins January 13th and end December 11th 2026. Member should be prepared to perform service tasks outside in varying weather conditions.

Watershed Engagement Coordinator - Friends of the Mad River, Waitsfield

Steward the Mad River Valley’s healthy land and clean water for our community and for future generations! Help meet the needs of the Mad River watershed community through education and engagement events dedicated to improving the resilience and health of the Mad River. In this position you’ll develop educational community events, create educational outreach materials, engage landowners in stewardship projects, and so much more! This position is Full Time (1720 hours).

Friends of the Mad River (Friends) is a member-supported, nonprofit organization, founded in 1990. We build diverse partnerships of neighbors, businesses, towns, and other organizations to restore and enhance the watershed’s valued resources. Together, we learn about the health of the land and water; conserve our natural resources; and celebrate this special place. Our work is grounded in sound science, inclusive education and engagement, and thoughtful action.

The Watershed Engagement Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate public educational events and projects focused on resilience and a healthy watershed
  • Engage community partners to develop new education and engagement opportunities
  • Develop outreach materials to promote education and engagement events
  • Environmental Restoration – provide direct support removing invasive species, planting riparian buffers and upland forests
  • Native Plant Nursery – help launch a new program aimed at growing native trees and shrubs for restoration projects

Community Engagement & Trail Operations Steward - Mad River Path, Waitsfield

Mad River Path seeks a creative, imaginative person to help support their human powered transportation infrastructure projects and programs! The member will participate in a number of projects spanning education, recreation, transportation, trail maintenance, and volunteer management. This position is Full Time (1720 hours) and is split between office and field service.

Mad River Path is a community-supported organization leading the implementation of an Active Transportation Corridor from Warren to Moretown in the Mad River Valley, Vermont. We connect communities and provide access to nature and opportunities for outdoor recreation for valley residents and visitors. We believe that inclusive and safe human powered transportation infrastructure fosters positive social change, healing our relationships with nature and each other, and leading to a sustainable future.

The Community Engagement & Trail Operations Steward will:  

  • Maintain 15 miles of paths as a part of a stewardship team
  • Assist teaching groups of 10 students ages 9 – 14 in the backcountry settings
  • Organize activities for students and volunteer work parties
  • Design and implement trail improvements and engage with the trail users
  • Assist with the completion of the Active Transportation Corridor Study
  • Plan and develop host site outreach materials to update community about programs and events

Flood Recovery Coordinator - Montpelier Parks, Montpelier

Help the city of Montpelier recover from past flood events and prepare for future floods! This position with the Montpelier Parks and Trees Department will tackle projects mitigating flood risk while continuing to rebuild projects and public areas that were damaged in the 2023 flood. This position is Half Time (915 hours) and takes place mostly outdoors.

Our mission is to steward Montpelier’s parks, trees, and natural spaces for the enjoyment and health of all.

The Flood Recovery Coordinator will:

  • Assist with flood recovery and preparedness
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor volunteers and job trainees
  • Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of host site public events and programs

Land Management & Restoration Coordinator - Vermont Land Trust, Newport

Build improved systems for monitoring, maintenance, and programming on VLT lands! This position will support building baseline information across properties owned by Vermont Land Trust and will create critical capacity to coordinate riparian restoration projects. Position is Full Time (1720 hours).

Vermont Land Trust protects land and fosters connections to the farms, forests, and community spaces that define us.

  • Support native ecosystems on VLT owned lands by conducting invasive plant and insect assessments and coordinating control efforts of invasive species.
  • Support public use of VLT owned lands through planning and maintenance of trail systems, parking areas, and signage.
  • Assist with community garden management on VLT owned lands including: soil and site preparation, water irrigation set up and maintenance, compost management, and end of season closeout.
  • Support the establishment of forested riparian buffers on conserved lands by physically flagging new buffers on conserved farms, coordinating tree plantings, and tend and monitor planted trees post-planting.

Conservation Assistant - Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District (WCNRCD), Brattleboro

Connect community members with educational, technical, and financial resources to support water quality and natural resource conservation! WCNRCD seeks a detail-orientated person to develop and host community outreach and education that will support increased implementation of conservation practices. This is a Full Time (1720 hours) position will require the member to serve both independently and collaboratively.

WCNRCD is one of 14 conservation districts in Vermont. The function of the district is to focus and coordinate available technical, financial, and educational resources to meet the needs of district land users. We inform local, state, and federal officials about conservation issues, and we serve all who live, work, and play within Windham County.

The Conservation Assistant will:

  • Implement host site community engagement plan
  • Develop and distribute host site outreach materials to increase public awareness of best practices supporting water quality, soil health, and flood resiliency and recovery
  • Plan and implement public outreach at community events through tabling and use of the interactive stream table
  • Lead the district’s stakeholder engagement and public survey

Position begins January 13 and ends December 11, 2026. Position will take place both in the field and in an office setting.

Environmental Educator and Stewardship Coordinator - Willowell Foundation, Bristol

Enhance delivery of programming focused on environmental education and land stewardship for Willowell youth and community members! Recruit, track, and monitor volunteers in environmental stewardship projects. Support the coordination and implementation of annual events.

The Capacity and Stewardship Coordinator will:

  • Develop and deliver environmental education curriculum to youth at all ages and backgrounds through varying conditions.
  • Conduct research and survey program participants (parents, volunteers) to assess effectiveness and impact of environmental education programs
  • Mentor and tutor youth-In-School or Out-of-School Life Supports & Skills for workforce development. Programs include: Pond Brook Middle School, The Walden Year High School, and Summer Camps
  • Assist staff with non-federal, program-specific fundraising efforts (limited to 10% of total service hours)
  • Recruit and manage volunteers; document and track volunteer activities in host site systems; develop and implement volunteer recognition

Leadership Development & Service

Team Engagement & Service Coordinator - Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, Montpelier

Foster a strong connection between VHCB AmeriCorps members to support an impactful and meaningful service term for all! Check in with members and act as a resource to help members achieve their professional and personal goals. Build community connections by planning and leading service projects.

The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board is an independent, state-supported funding agency providing grants, loans and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, municipalities and state agencies for the development of perpetually affordable housing and for the conservation of important agricultural land, recreational land, natural areas and historic properties in Vermont.

The Team Engagement & Service Coordinator will:

  • Develop and coordinate service projects for VHCB AmeriCorps cohort
  • Conduct one-on-one site visits with each VHCB AmeriCorps Member at least twice during service term
  • Coordinate program initiatives focused on member professional development;
  • Conduct outreach and engage community members and nonprofit organizations by representing program at events (i.e. tabling), developing outreach materials, and promoting program’s mission through other engagement efforts.
  • Support program staff in delivering training and events for the cohort
  • Complete an extensive Independent Service Project (ISP), a self-designed direct service community project in support of the mission of the program.

Position is Full Time (requires 1720 hours). Position begins January 13 and ends December 11, 2026.
